Over time Varnish will "Yellow" and or crack, and if desired, this Varnish can be carefully removed, revealing the original colors. A new coat of varnish is then applied to protect the work.

TearsBecause of age or accidents, tears can happen.
Over time, typically one hundred years or more, the organic material of which canvas is composed of will begin to disintegrate, and the canvas will become weak and puncture or tear with the slightest pressure, sometimes the weight of the painting itself can cause collapse. Proper Conservative methods are used to repair tears. The rebuild and touch up to the Artwork are done with minimal invasion of the original work. Sometimes, an entire piece will need to be reinforced to ensure strength and help to prevent future damage.
